I was just exploring on the internet to day looking for software that could be beneficial to children with dyslexia, and came across macspeech. its a speech to text program that can be used on Mac products. I was just wondering if any of you have any experience with this product? How does it compare to dragon?

Hi Rachel,

I have not use macspeech; however, I have taken a look at Dragon recently. Dragon was created to be used by doctors for recording reports. It was not created for use by students. It was described to me as being a good tool for students with dyslexia, but not so great for others. If a student can not put their thoughts together and output them fluently then the program will not work for them. It is not easy to program. The reading passages are quite large and complex, impossible for the non-reader and would take forever repeating one sentence at a time as it is so long. Speak Q (I believe that is the name of the other one that is used by our LD specialist)is easier to program as the passages are not as long and complex.
